Both an economist and philosopher, Sebastiaan composes a large quantity of incisive reviews and is commonly involved in harvesting information and ideas through TrendLabs and ScenarioLabs. Following these interactive sessions with clients, he plays a key part in the production and communication of our research reports. In addition to his assignments at FreedomLab, he is working on his doctoral degree in association with De Filosofische School, researching the influence of digitalization on mental health and virtue ethics, having previously published dissertations on the philosophy of play and systemic risks in the finance industry. Aside from these responsibilities, Sebastiaan avidly reads up on global developments in internet culture, the virtualization of the lifeworld, datafication and the quantified self, and the future of democracy, nations and the rule of law in a digital society.
